Native Memphian, Brent Hooks is a corporate executive. As the oldest of 3, his leadership journey began at an early age. Equally important, young Hooks developed his spiritual foundation growing up as a member of St. Andrew AME Church in the heart of South Memphis. He is married to his high-school sweetheart, and they share an artsy daughter, Blaire. Coming from a family filled with civic-minded entrepreneurs and educators, their guidance and experiences fueled many of his endeavors. Brent obtained a degree in accounting and finance from the University of Memphis and an Executive MBA with an emphasis in Global Immersion from the prestigious Vanderbilt University. Brent has personally been recognized locally and nationally. Some recognitions include Forbes Next 1000, Top Young Memphian by the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, and Top 40 under 40 by Memphis Business Journal.
Although Brent has participated in small start-up companies like Allworld Media Group and Henry and Robert Investments in his repertoire, the most notable is Allworld Project Management, a civil engineering and construction management firm where he serves as the Chief Administrative Officer. The firm has a staff of size of just under 70 employees. Allworld has been recognized by serval organizations locally but recently was recognized by the Inc 5000 as one the fastest-growing companies in America. The company operates in TN, MS, TX, AR, and AL. Allworld has participated in development projects such as Crosstown Concourse Redevelopment, Fairgrounds Redevelopment, Hotel Chisca, South City, The Citizen at Union and Mclean, and the Pinch. Brent continues to look for ways to expand the company while managing its growth.
Outside of being a savvy businessman, pioneering Hooks is very community and socially-minded. Brent is a member of the Most Illustrious Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Hooks has a deep passion for media and entertainment. Coupled with his ability to continue to remain civically engaged, he led a nonpartisan campaign in 2016 to encourage Millennials to vote. During this time, not only did he participate in orchestrating a well-attended voter rally with over 100 Millennials and other high-profile individuals from around the community, but he also was the Executive Producer of a documentary called "Why Not Vote?" where he was the Executive Producer. In 2018, Mayor Lee Harris appointed Brent as a board member of the Shelby County / City of Memphis Film and TV Commission in which he still actively participates. His entertainment efforts don’t end there. Brent has partnered with a few of the City’s top Millennial promoters and curated several events which include concerts and epic social mixers. Currently, the young executive also is a board member and Vice President of Administration for the 100 Black Men of Memphis.
Additionally, he is on St. Jude’s Spirit Of the Dream Advisory Board. He has been active on this committee for the last three years, but this year the board was able to raise over $150,000 for young cancer patients. He has served as a YMCA board member and financial chair. As financial chair, the young capitalist was very excited when the Davis YMCA was able to exceed its annual fundraising goal for the first time. Brent also served as a board member of the Benjamin Hooks Institute for Social Change.
Brent’s passion for people, specifically the youth, has also been exemplified through his participation as a basketball coach for Memphis Athletic Ministries. The budding star continues to accept opportunities to speak to the youth.
